30 Single Challenges: Pick One and Glow Up with Me | Episode 61
I give you 30 upbeat, slightly rebellious challenges to help singles step outside their comfort zones and actually enjoy being single. I walk you through playful things like taking yourself on a no-phone, dress-up date; saying yes to invitations for 30 days (yes, even the awkward couples’ BBQs); and writing a partner checklist just to ceremonially burn it and replace it with how you want to feel. We toss in practical moves too — a 30-day app detox or a rebuilt morning focused on pleasure, not productivity — and goofy-but-useful prompts like creating a flyer advertising your best partner qualities or writing wedding-level vows to yourself. I share personal flavor (once I joked my bio said “looking for my future ex-husband,” because why not) and suggest humbling experiences like beginner classes or doing one scary solo thing a week. My Glow Up challenge is simple: pick at least one item, actually do it this week, and drag another single friend into the experiment. It’s a light, hands-on episode meant to get you living intentionally and having fun while single — no sidekick required.

I tossed out the heavy stuff for a playful, practical episode where I give you a 30-item challenge list designed to make single life feel less like a waiting room and more like a playground. I walk you through concrete, low-stakes experiments — take yourself on a dressed-up date with no phone, say yes to invitations for 30 days (especially from couples and coworkers), host a dinner for six paired-up friends so singles aren’t always left waiting, or try a full social-media fast from relationship content. I even confess my own misadventure — I tried improv and hated it — so you know I’m not handing out polished platitudes, just real ideas to push your comfort zone. There’s creative stuff too: design a flyer advertising your best partner qualities, make a Canva infographic about the perks of being single, or recreate your dating bio without the “rules.” Practical self-care shows up everywhere: redo your bedroom like a boutique hotel, rebuild mornings around pleasure, and write wedding-level vows to yourself. The episode ends with a Glow Up challenge — pick at least one item, do it this week, and send the episode to a fellow single. Even if we’re late, we’re right on time.

How often do you challenge yourself to do something outside your comfort zone?
Hi, welcome back.
Or welcome to All About Being Single and I'm your host, Wioleta.
Let's get started.
So I think that, like, a lot of our recent episodes have been pretty serious, so I figured this episode could be a bit, I don't want to say a silly one, but definitely one that's just not like on one super heavy topic, basically just one where we talk about positive challenges you could partake in.
And I was scrolling Instagram the other day and found the post that was pretty unconventional.
And it was like a list of these random things to try out.
I don't remember who created it and exactly what those were, so I can't really link to it, unfortunately.
But I figured we could do something similar.
So I'm going to give you a list of about 30 items.
Okay, so 1.
Take yourself on a date, but with rules.
And whether or not you call things like that dates or not, you know, is your preference.
But basically go and dress up, sit at a table for one, no phone.
Kind of the discomfort of it is the point.
Two, say yes to every invitation for 30 dates, within reason, obviously, but especially the ones from the couples and families and coworkers.
Three, write your partner checklist, then burn it.
So just replace it with a list of how you want to feel in a relationship.
4.
Be the host.
Throw a dinner for six people who are coupled up, no plus ones.
Singles often wait to be invited and we have to show up to places without a sidekick all of the time.
So make it fair.
5.
Chat up someone you normally wouldn't start a convo with.
Not to flirt, just to Talk that day.
6.
If you're still in the apps, go 30 days without dating apps.
Then return with intention and just kind of notice what you missed and what you didn't.
7.
Or return, recreate your dating app bio without all the rules that they tell us to follow.
And you know the ones I'm talking about, the ones where you're told to pick good pictures, no group pictures.
Write about what you're looking for in a partner, not talk about yourself.
Don't be negative on a bio, blah, blah, blah, blah.
So for this, just be yourself.
Don't listen to any rules, just recreate that bio however you want to recreate it.
Like for example, when I last created profiles, which at this point almost like three years ago, my main thing on there, if not longer actually, but my main thing on there was looking for my future ex husband, because I thought that was hilarious.
8.
Plan a big single only milestone that you normally wouldn't consider a single person milestone.
So maybe plan like a half marathon or sign up for a class to improve some skill and just something that again you don't consider like a milestone just for like single people.
9.
Write a love letter to your single self at day one.
Open it in 30 days or open it a year from now, whatever.
10.
Try something around the house that you consider to be for the opposite gender.
11.
Create a flyer advertising your best qualities as a partner.
Post it someplace or just keep it to yourself.
12.
Go on Canva and create an infographic about all the cool things about being single.
This helps you learn a new skill if you're not really doing stuff on Canva and it allows you to list all the things that you actually like about being single.
13.
Make a no contact list of people who leave you feeling smaller.
14.
Get one thing professionally done that you'd save for a couple.
So maybe a photo, a portrait.
I know the holidays are coming up so maybe like a Christmas photo shoot, a family style shoot just with friends or your cat, whatever.
15.
Start a standing weekly plan with a friend so same day, same time, no canceling.
Well, at least on your end.
That just gets you in the same place every week and even better if it's somewhere where you can meet other people in addition to just meeting with your friend.
16.
Fix something broken in your home that you've been putting off.
17.
Take a 30 day social media fast from relationship content.
This could include my podcast if you consider that one, which I know I don't really talk about relationships that much, but anyhow, no engagement bait, no copple vlogs, and better yet, if your job or side hustle doesn't depend on it, take a 30 day social media break in general.
18.
Write down every quote unquote should that you have absorbed about your age and relationship status and then cross out each one that you don't actually agree with.
19.
Ask three people what they actually admire about you and record the answers.
20.
Plan your own milestones.
Throw yourself a party for a promotion, a move, or just surviving a year and actually invite people to it maybe?
Well yeah, otherwise it wouldn't be a party.
21.
Create a perfect Saturday template and just live it once a month.
22.
Say your needs out loud daily.
23.
Redo your bedroom as if you were hosting yourself at a boutique hotel.
24.
Take a class where you're the beginner.
Could be pottery dense, improv, anything humbling.
I tried improv last month fucking would not recommend hated it, would never probably try it again.
25.
Do one scary thing alone each week for three months.
Could be a movie, a concert, a restaurant, a hike.
And just, I guess you could just start with one maybe this week.
26.
Write your own wedding level vows, but to yourself.
What do you promise to do for your own life for the rest of your life?
27.
Create a green flag list from your best friendships.
Then use it to measure dating too.
28.
If someone asks if you have plans over the weekend and all your plans are really just to like lay around and just be by yourself, say that you have plans and that you're busy because those are plans, even if they're solo plans.
And actually especially if they're solo plans.
29.
Rebuild your morning around pleasure, not productivity.
So, you know, could be coffee outside, cuddle with your pet for like a long time or play some music and dance.
Just a slow start, whatever that means for you.
And 30.
Write a relationship with myself review.
What do you do for yourself that you'd like to keep doing and what you like to improve on?
Think of it like a healthy relationship check in, but with yourself.
And this episode is structured a little bit differently than most of my episodes because, as you know, normally I do like a note to self.
Normally we do like a little dance break.
Normally we do.
You know, I'll give you like a hill.
I'll die on all of those things.
But today it's just a list of these items.
And you know, I love the Glow up.
So I am going to give you a Glow Up.
And your Glow up for this week is just to pick at least one of whatever I mentioned or create your own and actually do it this week and send this episode to another single and have them do the challenge too.
As always, even if we're late, we're right on time.
Thanks so much for listening.
I hope you have a good rest of your day, whatever day you're listening to this on.
And I will talk to you next Tuesday.
Life.
Sam.
